ALL STUDENTS: March Break check-in: What should I be doing?

First of all, let me wish all of you a great, restful March Break.

When you return I hope you will be ready to push through the remainder of the year's material, willing to fight off any March Break laziness and the oncoming Spring Fever.

Third term is the biggest, most valuable Term for you and your Science mark.

Now is the time to either continue your hard work OR improve your outlook and work ethic to boost your mark as much as possible before June!

If a boost is what you need, it is time to start:
- paying your FULL ATTENTION in class,
- ENGAGING in the lesson,
- working HARD & HANDING IN those assignments, and
- STUDYING for those quizzes and tests.
- SEEING ME(ASAP)with any questions or for help.

If you are Gr7, 01and 03 group:

You may still owe me:
1)  A "Skillswise" Volume worksheet.
2)  A Metric System worksheet( Question #8: conversions )
3)  A Mass/Volume Lab.

There will be:
1)  A Metric System Quiz soon after you return to school.

If you see a note regarding the Metric System Quiz in the earlier posts, I postponed it for the 03 group and the 01 group missed their quiz due to the Snow Day on the 27th February.

If you are Gr8:

You were assigned:
Pages 150 - 151  &  pages 156 - 157.

You may still owe me:
1)  A Rock Cycle Assignment.
2)  A Mineral Assignment.

There will owe me:
1)  An "Alternative Energy Report"  Powerpoint.  Due date is Friday, March 13th.  
(Please just "share" the Powerpoint with me.  If that cannot be done, save it to a USB stick and hand that in to me).

There will be:
A test on the following topics:
- Rock Cycle,
- Minerals,
- Soils,
- Renewable and Nonrenewable Energy (Re)Sources.

Test date:  Probably before 20th March.

Gr7 Homework - 01 group

Students will write a quiz on the Metric System next class:  Thursday, 27 Feb.

Gr7 Homework - 03 group

Students are to complete the conversions(Question #8)on the "Metric System" worksheet by Wednesday, 26th Feb.

In addition, students are to complete workbook pages 31 ,  32  &  33.

Gr7 Homework - 01 group

Students received a note/worksheet on the Metric System.

They are to have question #6 completed for next class.

Gr7 Homework - 03 group

Students have a note/worksheet on the Metric System.

They are to have the conversions - at the bottom of the page on the back side - done for next class.

Gr8 Homework - 01 group

Students will be performing  research to complete a Powerpoint report on their choice of "Alternative Energy".

They were given a handout listing 6 choices, as well as giving explanations of  what each slide of their 5 - page powerpoint will cover.

Students were to read pages 147 - 148 and 152 to 155 to familiarize them with the topic before their research period next class.

Gr7 Homework - groups 01 & 03

Both groups will have a quiz on volume when they next have Science.

In addition, some students must still complete the "Skillswise" worksheet / assignment on Volume.

Students who did not complete the "Conclusion & Discussion" page from the Mass & Volume lab from last class will do so next class.

Gr8 Homework

Students will write a quiz on Minerals next class - Monday, 17th Feb.

Students are to complete pages 145 - 146 in their workbook.  These pages cover Soils.

These pages will be checked for completion and will then be corrected.

Gr7 Homework - 01 group

The students are to complete a Volume worksheet given out in class today.

It is due next class:  Friday, 14th Feb, 2nd period.

Gr7 Homework - 03 group

Students were given a worksheet on Volume.  It is two-sided and has the title "Skillswise" at the top.

It is due next class, Thursday, 13th Feb.

Gr8 Homework - 01 group

Today( Friday, 7th Feb )students handed in their Rock Cycle Assignment.

They were given a second Assignment on Minerals.  It is due next class( Wednesday, 12th Feb ).
Please don't forget about it over the weekend!

Students are to complete pages 26 and 27 in their workbooks.

This will be checked for completion and corrected next class.

Students are asked to bring their calculators for next class.

Gr7 Homework - 03 group

Students are to complete pages 26 and 27 in their workbook.

There will be a Requiz on "States of Matter" on Friday, 7th Feb.

Gr8 Homework - Quiz

The Rock cycle quiz mentioned in the post below has been bumped to Friday, 7th Feb, period 2.

Students need to know the 3 types of rocks and how they form.

Students are also to complete pages 140 - 141 in their workbooks.  These pages cover Minerals.

This work will be checked and count toward students' Attitude To Study(ATS)and will be corrected.
